Finally decided to install this bad boy, and may I say thank you veeeery much. I'm going to be having a lot of fun playing around with my new shaders! :foodndrink:

Only problem I can report is that after installing OBGEv2, that blasted Crash-on-Exit resurfaced, but I understand you are aware of the problem, so I'm essentially running issue free. (Oh, yes, and the temporary hang-up while the SSAO shaders compiled, but that doesn't count, right? :whistling: )

Thanks again!

EDIT: I normally force AA+HDR through my GPU on this game, but when I installed OBGEv2, the GPU AA mysteriously stopped working. Does this mean I need to reroute the AA through the Normal_Filter_AA shader you provide, and if so, how do the values on it work?

RE-EDIT: Never mind the question, I just needed to look a little closer. But still, I'm a little confused as to why my GPU AA doesn't play nice with OBGE.

RE-RE-EDIT: Bleh... need listen to that wise old sage known as the Readme.

hmm, i just dropped the core and the shader files into my bain installer, then used wyre bash to install the archives, core first shaders second, then activated the esps and rebuilt my patch, what could possibly be wrong with that?

Which version of WB are you using?

I tried to install the core package through BAIN, as well, but then discovered it would not be feasible because BAIN skipped about 90% of the contents even after checking the "has extra directories" option. You might need to install the core package manually.

I'm on 290.

Are you sure you're installing the BAIN version correctly? Remember - you need to check off the parts you want to install, first.

Also, a small-ish question - would a version of the ColourMood shader that changes hue based on the time of day be possible? Right now everything gets tinted purple, but I'd be interested in seeing a shader that, for instance, makes nights blue, mornings/dawns oranges, sunsets/ducks purple, and... oh, we're back at nights. But... yeah. Is it?

i looked at the contents of the core archive and examined my oblivion install, and saw that the obgev2.dll had not been added to my install, so i went ahead and put that in. Then i ran the game and it froze after loading a save file. here is my obgev2.txt (which now exists!)

That's covered in the readme. The SSAO shaders take a really long time to load, and can leave you hanging for up to 5 minutes, just wait for the game to unfreeze, it eventually will.

If you want to avoid that, delete the ssao_perf.FX and ssao_test.FX shaders.

If it's no hassle, could someone in the know post a description of what HLSL Color Grading actually does?

A series of (subtle, was it?) photoshop-like effects... OK. But that really doesn't explain anything much. Photoshop's a pretty big app! :D

No, not lol really. I just have a really bad habit of making up a heap of rubbish and putting it in readmes to confuse people because I enjoy knowing that I have made a lot of people's lives that little bit harder. All these people in this thread have been fooled by my gambit and now suffer my machinations with no hope of escape.

It says that because I don't actually know what it does. :P I think it's something to do with increasing the saturation of only parts of the screen, with those colours that are 'least grey' getting their saturation boosted and greys having their saturation not altered. It would be pretty subtle though, I think.

(Oh, and grammar experts, is it "people's" as above, or "peoples'"? AFAIK, both are correct English, but people is already plural, so doesn't really need the s on the end to denote that, but then if you're talking about a multitude of groups of people, then the s is required, no?)

Hm. So... if it's already more saturated, it gets more of the same, and if less so, it doesn't? Seems odd, but fair enough.

Any nice, clear comparative screenshots, with just that shader in effect?

Also, I believe "people's" is correct, yes.

...Maybe I got that wrong then. As for pictures, no, I don't know of any. You could set the bRenderHalfScreen to 1 or true or whatever it takes in the OBGE.ini and then load up the shader though, which should give you a good comparison.

These two posts should be informative.

Color grading is an artist tweak which should be applied specifically to specific scenes. It doesn't fit a dynamic game like Oblivion. This method takes the average color which is dynamic and makes the grading according to it, a nice workaround.

Some more screens(from Oblivion this time)

So I just finished installing the updated core/shaders (1-5-11) and Godrays no longer works. I had a small problem with Color Effects where the whole screen turned grey, but after toggling on/off the GContrast it automatically fixed itself. However this "method" hasn't worked for Godrays. :(

My current in-game settings for Godrays
Spoiler

Also while using Half Screen Render I notice this strange effect.

Wow, thanks vtastek. Yes, that was (all of it) certainly informative. :)

I must admit, the few times I've flicked Color Grading on and off, I haven't noticed any change at all. But I suspect that's had more to do with my other settings (including multiple tweaked shaders) than anything fundamental to this one, or even its default settings.

Though, even now, I would say that the default settings for it are *very* subtle indeed. Or would that not be quite right? Perhaps my eye are failing! :teehee:

Whatever the case, thanks again. I honestly tried to figure out what it was doing, and to simply spot the difference, before posting. It's just that I had no luck. :P

Interesting, was it working before? Do you have a 4xx, 5xx card?

Try the shader in this post.

PS. Also, for decays use 0.99 instead of 1s.

It maybe very subtle, but it is tweakable. :)

OK, so going off the linked descriptions and examples for the color grading shader, I've changed the description to: "Applies a subtle desaturation of average colour balance to the scene." Does this sound right?

guys, you doing a great job, thanks for that !

is there someone who use NormalFilterAA?
i just can't get it to work properly, blur and almost no AA
what settings do you use?

btw,i think that we need a new topic, where all can share their settings, like it done with an ENB plugs, it could be really useful

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I seem to be crashing as soon as the game loads up. I tried this 4 times with the Oblivion Graphics Extender Support.esp enabled and it crashed. After disabling it, it seemed to load and work fine. I used BOSS in order to place the .esp in my load order. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

I just use the default settings, because after getting settings and advice from other people, and tinkering with other shaders, I'm just too lazy to methodically test variable alterations for that one! :P

It works fine for me, and makes a huge difference.

As for why it's not working right for you, I'm sorry, but I'm almost certainly the wrong person to attempt troubleshooting this for you. I'd only suggest making sure you have the latest versions/updates from the OP, and likewise with DirectX and so on. But hey, you no doubt know all that already.

Fantastic idea! Also... where is that done for ENB? As in, what site / forums?

It was working before as for the card I'm not sure it's Nvidia Geforce 9600 GSO.

Also downloaded the new godrays and tried to tweak the decay/other settings all of which had no effect. So I reinstalled the older files including the older model of godrays and it still had no effect.
I've also noticed some of my other mods not working so it mat not be a problem with anything on this side. I'm thinking about reinstalling Oblivion but I don't want to loose my custom settings for my shaders, is there any way to back them up?

First off:

NEW THREAD

btw,i think that we need a new topic, where all can share their settings, like it done with an ENB plugs, it could be really useful

Such a thread already exists here, but only a few settings have been suggested, and I admit I've never really taken the care to record them properly. I'll trawl the last 21 threads when I get the chance.
